Top Ten Workplace/Workforce Forecasts for 2005

Persons in alternative work arrangements: 8.6M independent contractors (6.4% of total U.S. employment), 2.1M on-call workers (1.6%), 1.2M temporary help agency workers (0.9%), 633,000 contract company workers (.5%) - U.S. Dept. of Labor's 2001 survey

ITAC along with research partner Dieringer Research Group estimates 44 million U.S. teleworkers in 2004.

A contingency workforce of about 33M people has developed and consists of 16.5M free agents, 3M temporary workers, and 13.5 million micro businesses. Approximately 21M people work from home. - Fast Company Magazine
